König Pilsener, often referred to as König Pils, is one of Germany's most established premium beer brands. Founded in 1858 by Theodor König in Beeck (now part of Duisburg), the brewery initially specialized in brewing beer according to the Pilsener method, which was relatively uncommon in the region at the time. Over the decades, it grew into a national brand synonymous with German brewing heritage.
Today, the brand is produced at the König-Brauerei in Duisburg, Germany. Since 2004, it has been part of the Bitburger Braugruppe, a family-owned German beverage group. The ownership remains strictly within the German brewing industry, maintaining the brand's local roots and traditional quality standards. The beer is known for its mild, hoppy character and is exported to numerous countries worldwide.
