The brand finds its origins in San Pellegrino Terme, Italy, where its famous mineral water has been bottled since 1899. This specific line of fruit-based beverages, known as Aranciata and Limonata, was launched starting in 1932 to capitalize on the natural citrus bounty of southern Italy.

While the brand remains deeply rooted in Italian heritage and continues to manufacture its core products in Italy, it is no longer an independent company. In 1997, the Sanpellegrino Group was acquired by the Swiss multinational food and beverage giant Nestlé. Today, it operates as a key brand within Nestlé's global water division, maintaining its premium positioning and iconic Italian identity while leveraging Nestlé's international distribution network.
