Heinz is one of the most iconic food brands in the world, famously known for its '57 Varieties'. The brand's journey began in 1869 in Sharpsburg, Pennsylvania, when Henry J. Heinz started selling horseradish in clear glass bottles to prove its purity. The legendary Tomato Ketchup was introduced in 1876 and has since become the global standard for the condiment.
Today, Heinz products are manufactured in dozens of facilities across the globe, including major sites in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and the Netherlands. This global production footprint allows the brand to maintain its position as a household staple in over 200 countries.
In 2013, the H.J. Heinz Company was acquired by Berkshire Hathaway and 3G Capital. Following this, in 2015, the company merged with Kraft Foods to form The Kraft Heinz Company. This remains one of the largest food and beverage companies in the world, headquartered co-locally in Chicago and Pittsburgh. The brand continues to focus on sustainable sourcing and modernizing its classic glass and plastic packaging for the 21st century.
