Julbo is a historic French brand renowned for its expertise in performance eyewear and outdoor gear. Founded in 1888 by Jules Baud in the Jura region of France, the brand originally focused on protective eyewear for stonecutters before venturing into mountaineering sunglasses. Over the decades, it has become a global leader in the sports eyewear market, specializing in products for skiing, cycling, and sailing.

While Julbo maintains its design headquarters and some high-end production in France, the manufacturing of accessories like cases and certain frame components is often distributed across specialized facilities globally, including Europe and Asia. In 2022, Julbo was acquired by the Enovos Group (under the umbrella of Peugeot Invest and other investors via the brand holding company), integrating it into a broader portfolio of heritage and sports brands while maintaining its core identity as a French pioneer in optical technology.
