Peroni is a world-renowned Italian beer brand with a history dating back to 1846, when it was founded by Francesco Peroni in Vigevano, Italy. The brand is most famous for its premium pilsner, Nastro Azzurro, which was launched in 1963 and named after the 'Blue Riband' won by the Italian ocean liner SS Rex.

Historically, Peroni was produced exclusively in Italy at its three main breweries in Rome, Bari, and Padua. However, in recent years, production has expanded internationally to meet global demand and optimize supply chains. Notably, as of 2024 and 2025, Molson Coors began brewing full-strength Peroni Nastro Azzurro domestically in the United States at their Albany, Georgia facility for the North American market. Despite this international production, the non-alcoholic version (Peroni 0.0%) continues to be brewed in Italy to maintain its traditional profile. Ownership of the brand shifted from the founding family to SABMiller in 2003, and was later acquired by the Japanese conglomerate Asahi Group Holdings in 2016.
