Hellmann's is a historic condiment brand that dates back to 1913, when Richard Hellmann, a German immigrant, opened a delicatessen in New York City. He began selling his wife's special mayonnaise in jars, which eventually became the gold standard for the brand. Over time, Hellmann's expanded its product line to include diverse sauces, such as the Classic Burger Dressing shown here, which is designed to provide a creamy, tangy flavor profile for grilled foods.
While the brand has its roots in the United States, it operates globally and has distinct identities in different regions; it is sold as Hellmann's in most parts of the world but as Best Foods in the western United States. Today, the brand is owned by Unilever, a British multinational consumer goods company. Due to its massive global scale, Hellmann's products are manufactured in multiple countries across Europe, North America, and other regions to serve local markets and optimize supply chains.
