Converse Shoes

Converse is an iconic American footwear brand founded in 1908 by Marquis Mills Converse. Originally specializing in rubber-soled shoes, the brand became a cultural phenomenon with the introduction of the All-Star basketball shoe in 1917, which was later endorsed by Chuck Taylor. For decades, the brand remained a staple of American sports and casual culture before transitioning into a symbol of counter-culture and self-expression.

While the brand originated in Malden, Massachusetts, its manufacturing operations moved overseas as the global footwear market evolved. Today, Converse sneakers are produced in various countries across Asia, including Vietnam, Indonesia, China, and India, to meet global demand.

Since 2003, Converse has been a subsidiary of Nike, Inc. This acquisition saved the brand from bankruptcy and integrated it into one of the world's largest athletic apparel corporations. Under Nike's ownership, Converse continues to operate as a distinct brand entity while leveraging Nike's global supply chain and innovation resources.
