Quaker Oats is one of the world's most recognized cereal brands, deeply rooted in American industrial history. Founded in 1901 through the merger of four oat mills, its lineage traces back even further to the late 19th century in Ravenna, Ohio. The brand became a pioneer in standardized packaging and health-based marketing, long before such practices were commonplace in the food industry.
Today, the brand's primary manufacturing hub is located in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, which houses the largest oat milling facility in the world, processing millions of pounds of oats daily. While the core operations remain in North America, Quaker's global popularity means manufacturing and packaging also take place in various international markets to serve local consumer bases.
In 2001, The Quaker Oats Company was acquired by PepsiCo in a multi-billion dollar deal. Under PepsiCo's ownership, Quaker has expanded beyond its traditional oatmeal canisters into a diverse portfolio including snacks, breakfast bars, and beverages. It remains a cornerstone of PepsiCo's 'Better For You' product segment, headquartered in Chicago, Illinois, as part of the PepsiCo North America nutrition division.
