JBL is a legendary American audio brand founded by James Bullough Lansing in 1946. Known for its history in high-fidelity sound, its products are now ubiquitous in both professional and consumer markets worldwide. While the brand carries the heritage of American audio engineering, the manufacturing of its consumer electronics line, including its popular portable Bluetooth speakers like the one pictured, is conducted primarily through large-scale facilities in China.
Since 2017, JBL has been a core brand under the Harman International Industries umbrella, a global leader in connected car technology and lifestyle audio. Harman International is itself a wholly-owned subsidiary of Samsung Electronics, the South Korean multinational conglomerate. This ownership structure creates a unique synergy where JBL benefits from American design heritage, global supply chains based in Asia, and the massive technological resources of Samsung.
