Skippy is one of the world's most recognizable brands of peanut butter, first introduced to consumers in 1932 by Percy Rose. The brand originated in the United States and was famously named after a popular comic strip character of the era. Over nearly a century, Skippy has become a household staple known for its smooth texture and rich flavor.
While the brand was originally developed by the Rosefield Packing Company, it went through several ownership changes during the 20th and 21st centuries, including long stints under Best Foods and later Unilever. In 2013, the brand was acquired by Hormel Foods Corporation, a major American food processing company based in Minnesota.
Today, Skippy is primarily manufactured in the United States, with its main facility located in Little Rock, Arkansas. However, to meet global demand, it is also produced in other locations such as China for Asian markets, and it is distributed worldwide through various subsidiaries and local distribution partners.
