Oral-B is a globally recognized American brand specialized in oral hygiene products. It was originally founded in 1950 in California by Dr. Robert W. Hutson, a periodontist who invented the first multi-tufted, soft-nylon bristle toothbrush. The name 'Oral-B' itself is derived from the term 'Oral Brush.' Over the decades, the brand expanded from manual toothbrushes into electric dental tools and specialized toothpastes.
In 1984, Oral-B was acquired by the Gillette Company, and later became part of the Procter & Gamble (P&G) portfolio following P&G's acquisition of Gillette in 2005. Today, the Pro-Expert line is a signature series within their health care division, often developed and produced in specialized facilities in Europe, particularly in Germany, though manufacturing for global markets occurs in multiple P&G plants worldwide.
As of 2026, Oral-B remains a flagship brand of the American multinational Procter & Gamble. The brand is consistently ranked as a leader in the oral care market and is frequently marketed alongside other P&G oral health brands like Crest.
