Originally established in New Zealand, the brand was created to market and manage the export of kiwifruit on behalf of local growers. The company operates as a cooperative, currently owned by around 2,500 past and present kiwifruit growers in New Zealand.

While the brand's heart remains in New Zealand, Zespri employs a global sourcing strategy to ensure year-round availability of its fruit in international markets. This specific product, as indicated on the label, was grown and harvested in Greece. Under the Zespri Global Supply (ZGS) program, the company partners with offshore growers in countries like Italy, France, Greece, and Japan to produce fruit that meets Zespri's strict quality standards during the New Zealand off-season.
