Smint is a globally recognized brand of sugar-free breath mints, famously known for its triangular shape and distinctive dispenser packaging. The brand was originally launched in 1994 by the Spanish confectionery company Chupa Chups. It was specifically developed to meet the growing consumer demand for sugar-free products that could be enjoyed discreetly, leading to its iconic 'One-at-a-time' dispenser design.
In 2006, the brand underwent a significant transition in ownership when the Italian-Dutch global confectionery powerhouse Perfetti Van Melle acquired Chupa Chups. This acquisition integrated Smint into a portfolio that includes other major brands like Mentos and Airheads.
Today, Smint is primarily manufactured in various European facilities under the stewardship of Perfetti Van Melle. While the brand maintains its Spanish roots, its distribution and production are handled by the group's international subsidiaries, ensuring its presence in over 100 countries as a leader in the pocket-confectionery market.
