Sensodyne is a globally recognized oral health brand specializing in toothpaste for sensitive teeth. The brand was originally introduced in 1961 by the Block Drug Company in Brooklyn, New York. Over the decades, it evolved through major corporate acquisitions, notably being purchased by SmithKline Beecham (which later became GlaxoSmithKline or GSK) in 2000.
In July 2022, a significant shift occurred when GSK spun off its consumer healthcare division into an independent, publicly traded company named Haleon. Consequently, Haleon is now the ultimate owner of the Sensodyne brand. Manufacturing is highly decentralized to serve global markets; while historical production took place in the UK and US, recent strategic shifts have seen manufacturing move to major hubs like Slovakia and India to optimize costs and supply chains.
