Astra Urtyp is a German Pilsner beer brewed by Bavaria St. Pauli Brauerei in Hamburg, Germany. The brand Astra was originally established in Hamburg and is known for its distinctive malt note and tart finish. In 1997, the brewery faced financial difficulties, and the people of Hamburg showed solidarity to save the beer. In 1998, Astra rebranded with the slogan 'Astra. What's wrong with that?' to present itself as fresh, cheeky, and modern. The Carlsberg Group, headquartered in Denmark, acquired the brand, and Astra is now brewed by Carlsberg Deutschland GmbH, a subsidiary of the Carlsberg Group.
