Canadian Club 1858 Blended Canadian Whisky is a Canadian whisky brand that originated in 1858 when Hiram Walker, a grain merchant, established a distillery in Walkerville, Ontario. The brand gained popularity in the United States, especially in gentlemen's clubs, leading to its nickname 'Club Whisky.' In 1889, to emphasize its Canadian origin, the label was changed to Canadian Club. During Prohibition, Canadian Club became the most smuggled whisky into the U.S. In 1987, the brand was acquired by Beam Suntory Inc., a global leader in premium spirits headquartered in the United States. The brand is known for its smooth and easy-to-drink whisky, with the 1858 expression being a popular mixer for cocktails such as the Old Fashioned. The distillery in Windsor, Ontario, continues to produce Canadian Club whisky to this day.
