Sinalco is celebrated as the oldest soft drink brand in Europe, with its roots dating back to 1902 when it was founded by Friedrich Eduard Bilz and Franz Hartmann in Detmold, Germany. Originally known as 'Bilz-Brause,' the brand was renamed Sinalco in 1905—a name derived from the Latin phrase sine alcohole, meaning 'without alcohol.' The brand's iconic 'Red Dot' logo, which remains a central part of its visual identity today, was officially registered in 1937.
Today, Sinalco is a globally recognized brand sold in approximately 40 countries. Since 1994, the brand has been under the ownership of the Hövelmann family, based in Duisburg, Germany. The company operates through a franchise model where Sinalco International Brands GmbH & Co. KG provides the beverage concentrates and recipes to local partners who handle the final production, bottling, and distribution. Consequently, manufacturing occurs in numerous locations worldwide, including Germany, the Balkans, the Middle East, and parts of Africa, ensuring the product is tailored to local market needs while maintaining German quality standards.
