Cocio Classic Chocolate Milk was created in 1951 by Danish inventor Anker Pallesen, who combined milk, cocoa, and sugar to craft the original recipe. The brand was acquired by the American company Borden Food Corporation in 1976. In 1999, it was reacquired by Danish investors, and in 2008, Arla Foods, a leading Danish-Swedish dairy company, became its sole owner. Cocio is produced in Esbjerg, Denmark, using fresh milk from local farms, sugar sourced from Denmark or Germany, and Rainforest Alliance certified cocoa from West Africa. The product is sterilized after bottling, allowing it to have a shelf life of over two years without preservatives. Cocio is available in several European countries, including Denmark, the United Kingdom, Germany, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Sweden, and Greece. In the United States, it is imported by CKF Foods of Mount Prospect, Illinois. The brand is known for its commitment to quality and simplicity, offering a rich chocolate flavor with only three ingredients: milk, cocoa, and sugar.
