Schweppes Tonic Water

Schweppes is one of the world's most historic beverage brands, famously originating in 1783. Founded by Jacob Schweppe in Geneva, Switzerland, the brand pioneered the commercial process for carbonating water. Schweppe later moved the business to London in 1792 to expand his 'aerated water' empire, where it eventually received a royal warrant from King William IV.

Today, the manufacturing of Schweppes products is globally distributed. Because the brand ownership is split across different regions of the world, production typically occurs in local markets through various bottling partners. In the United States, it is primarily manufactured by Keurig Dr Pepper, while in many European and international markets, production is handled by The Coca-Cola Company or Suntory.

The brand's ownership represents one of the most complex corporate structures in the beverage industry. Following the breakup of the original Cadbury Schweppe company, the rights were divided. Keurig Dr Pepper owns and operates the brand in the United States. The Coca-Cola Company holds the rights in many territories including the UK, parts of Europe, and Japan, while Suntory Beverage & Food handles the brand in other regions like France and Spain.
