Rügenwalder Mühle is one of Germany's most famous meat and vegetarian product manufacturers. Originally founded in 1834 by Carl Müller in Rügenwalde, Pomerania (now Darłowo, Poland), the company became synonymous with its flagship product, the Teewurst. Following World War II and the displacement of the family, the business was re-established in Bad Zwischenahn, Lower Saxony, Germany, where it remains headquartered today.
For nearly two centuries, the company was family-owned. However, in a significant industry shift, the family reached an agreement in late 2023 to sell a majority stake to the Pfeifer & Langen group, a deal finalized in mid-2024. While Rügenwalder Mühle continues to operate as an independent brand with its own manufacturing facilities in Germany, it is now part of the broader portfolio of the Pfeifer & Langen industrial holding, which is also well-known for producing sugar and snacks.
