Brand Origin and History

Borjomi is a world-renowned brand of naturally carbonated mineral water originating from springs in the Borjomi Gorge of central Georgia. The springs have been used for their therapeutic and curative qualities for over a millennium, with formal commercial bottling dating back to the 1890s under the Russian Empire's Romanov dynasty. Borjomi Aromati represents a modern line extension, combining traditional Georgian mineral water with natural fruit and botanical extracts.

Manufacturing

Borjomi water is extracted from deep volcanic mineral springs in the Borjomi Gorge and bottled on-site at modern facilities in the town of Borjomi, Georgia, preserving its distinctive mineral composition and natural fizz before export.

Ownership

The brand is produced and distributed by IDS Borjomi International. Historically managed by the Georgian investment firm Salford Capital and later majority-owned by Alfa Group, the ownership structure shifted significantly in 2022. Following international sanctions, Alfa Group's controlling interest was diluted, and a minority controlling stake of shares was transferred free of charge to the Government of Georgia, which exercises oversight over operations alongside other private shareholders.
