Element app

Element (formerly known as Vector and Riot.im) is a free and open-source instant messaging client built on the decentralized Matrix protocol. It is designed for secure, end-to-end encrypted team chat, voice, and video communication.

The project was originally created in the United Kingdom by the core team that developed the Matrix open standard, notably Matthew Hodgson and Amandine Le Pape. To provide commercial hosting, features, and support around Matrix and Element, they founded New Vector Limited (trading as Element).

Today, Element remains owned and operated by New Vector Ltd, headquartered in London, United Kingdom. It is widely used internationally, including across Europe and Italy, by individuals, open-source communities, and enterprise or government organizations seeking sovereign, secure communication.
