Lipton is one of the world's most recognizable tea brands, with a history dating back to the late 19th century when Thomas Lipton founded it in Scotland. While originally focused on traditional leaf tea, the brand expanded into the ready-to-drink iced tea market in the late 20th century. The iced tea line is typically managed through a global joint venture between Unilever and PepsiCo, combining Lipton's tea expertise with PepsiCo's vast distribution network and bottling capabilities.

In the Portuguese market, as indicated by the packaging, the product is distributed by Unilever FIMA, Lda. While Lipton Iced Tea is manufactured in various locations globally to serve local markets, the units sold in Portugal are frequently produced locally or in neighboring European facilities. The brand's ownership has recently undergone significant changes; while Unilever retained the ready-to-drink (bottled) joint venture with PepsiCo, the majority of the dry tea business was spun off into a new company called Ekaterra (now Liptea), which was later acquired by CVC Capital Partners. However, the bottled iced tea variant remains under the Unilever-PepsiCo partnership umbrella.
