Listerine is one of the world's most iconic and widely used oral hygiene brands, originally formulated by Dr. Joseph Lawrence and Jordan Wheat Lambert in the United States in 1879. It was named after Sir Joseph Lister, a pioneer in antiseptic surgery. Initially used as a surgical antiseptic and even a floor cleaner, it was later marketed as a solution for bad breath (halitosis) and became a staple in oral care.
