Bom Petisco canned tuna

Bom Petisco is one of the most iconic and recognizable canned tuna brands in Portugal, characterized by its distinctive yellow label. The brand's history is deeply rooted in the Portuguese canning tradition, which dates back to the 19th century. In 1962, the brand significantly shifted its focus to the Azores archipelago to leverage the high-quality skipjack tuna found in those Atlantic waters.

Today, the brand is owned and produced by Cofaco Açores S.A., a company formed in 1961 through the merger of two prominent Algarve-based canneries. Most of the production is concentrated in Rabo de Peixe on the island of São Miguel. The brand is celebrated for its commitment to sustainable 'pole-and-line' fishing methods and its preservation of traditional artisanal preparation techniques, which have made it a staple in both Portuguese households and international markets.
