Originally founded in 1955 in Ensheim, Germany, by brothers Oswald and Hermann Hager, the Hager Group has grown into a leading international supplier of electrical installation systems. The brand is deeply rooted in both German and French engineering traditions, with its initial expansion into France occurring as early as 1959.

Manufacturing of Hager components takes place across several global sites, but their largest production facility is located in Obernai, France, where many of their safety and security products are assembled. While the Hager Group remains a family-owned entity headquartered in Blieskastel, Germany, it recently strategically divested its smoke detector business unit (Hager Safety) to QCP Quantum Capital Partners in June 2025. Despite this ownership change of the manufacturing unit, the smoke detectors continue to be marketed and supported under the established Hager brand name across European markets.
