Schwalbe is a premium brand of bicycle tires and inner tubes owned by the German family-run company Ralf Bohle GmbH. Founded in 1922 by brothers Eugen and Willy Bohle as an export business for bicycle parts, the company transitioned into a specialized tire manufacturer in 1973 under the leadership of Ralf Bohle. The brand name "Schwalbe" (the German word for swallow) was chosen to symbolize the speed, freedom, and light-hearted nature of cycling.

While the brand is headquartered in Reichshof-Wehnrath, Germany, where all product development and management take place, Schwalbe has a long-standing production strategy in Southeast Asia. Since the 1970s, it has maintained a exclusive joint-venture partnership with the Korean manufacturer Hung-A. This partnership led to the establishment of dedicated Schwalbe production facilities in Indonesia (Jakarta) and later in Vietnam. These factories are among the most advanced in the world for bicycle tire production, ensuring that even though manufacturing occurs abroad, the German engineering standards and quality control are strictly maintained. Today, the company remains independently owned by the Bohle family and continues to be a global leader in the bicycle tire industry.
