Originally introduced as an exclusive brand for REWE's discount subsidiary, Penny, in 2017, the brand's success led to its expansion into REWE's main supermarket stores in 2021. The 'Butcher's' line is specifically designed to provide a cohesive 'DIY Burger' experience, offering everything from high-quality meat patties and buns to specialized sauces and ketchups.

While the brand project was conceived at the REWE Group headquarters in Cologne, Germany, the manufacturing is handled by various European contract partners. Many of the brand's meat and sauce products are produced within Germany by established food tech companies and specialized butcheries (such as Wilhelm Brandenburg) that form part of REWE's internal production network.
