BaByliss is a globally recognized leader in the hair care industry, famously originating in Paris, France, in 1961. The brand was founded by hairstylists René Lelièvre and Roger Lemoine, who are credited with inventing the first electric curling tong in a small salon in the Montmartre district. This innovation revolutionized hair styling and laid the foundation for a brand that would eventually expand across Western Europe and beyond.

In 1995, BaByliss was acquired by the American conglomerate Conair Corporation (now Conair LLC). Under Conair’s stewardship, the brand diversified into professional and consumer lines, including the highly regarded BaBylissPRO series. Today, the brand's ultimate ownership lies with American Securities, a private equity firm that acquired Conair in 2021, though the Rizzuto family (Conair's founders) retains a minority stake.

Manufacturing for BaByliss products is distributed globally. While professional-grade hair dryers are frequently manufactured in Italy (following the acquisition of Italian firm Coif'In), the majority of mass-market electronic components and tools are produced in China. High-level research and development continue to be split between facilities in the United States, Belgium, and China, maintaining the brand's reputation for innovation.
