Itambé is one of Brazil's most iconic dairy brands, originating in the state of Minas Gerais. For decades, it was operated by the Cooperativa Central dos Produtores Rurais de Minas Gerais (CCPR), representing thousands of local milk producers. The brand established a strong reputation for quality in products ranging from liquid and powdered milk to yogurts and condensed milk.

In 2017, the French dairy giant Lactalis acquired a significant stake in Itambé as part of its expansion into the South American market. This acquisition made Lactalis the ultimate owner of the brand. Today, Itambé operates as a major subsidiary within the Lactalis Group, leveraging the group's global distribution network while maintaining its deep regional roots in Brazilian agriculture. The products are primarily manufactured across several industrial plants in Brazil, utilizing milk sourced from Brazilian dairy cooperatives.
