Despite its long British history, the production was controversially moved from Birmingham, UK, to Elst in the Netherlands in 2007.

Today, the brand is owned by Kraft Heinz. After deep roots in the UK food industry and decades of ownership by companies like Danone, it was acquired by the H. J. Heinz Company in 2005. Following the 2015 merger with Kraft, it remains a flagship product within the Kraft Heinz international portfolio, maintaining its status as the United Kingdom's favorite brown sauce despite being manufactured abroad.
