Gaggia Gran Prestige Espresso Machine

Gaggia is a legendary Italian brand synonymous with the evolution of espresso. Founded in Milan in 1948 by Achille Gaggia, the company pioneered the modern espresso machine by introducing a high-pressure piston mechanism that created the hallmark "crema" on coffee. This innovation fundamentally changed how espresso was served and consumed worldwide.

While the brand maintains its historical identity and design roots in Italy, manufacturing for entry-level and consumer-grade models like the Gran Gaggia Prestige series is primarily conducted in China to balance premium performance with market accessibility. Higher-end professional models continue to be manufactured in Italy.

In terms of ownership, Gaggia was acquired by Saeco International Group in 1999. In 2009, Saeco was itself acquired by the Dutch electronics giant Philips. Since 2021, following Philips' divestment of its domestic appliances division, the brand is under the ultimate ownership of Hillhouse Investment through its subsidiary Versuni (formerly Philips Domestic Appliances). Despite these corporate changes, Gaggia remains a cornerstone brand in the global coffee culture.
