Theunisse Kokosbrood

Kokosbrood (coconut bread) is a traditional Dutch breakfast and lunch topping made from shredded coconut, glucose syrup, and starch. The brand shown in the image is produced by Theha B.V., which is the only remaining dedicated coconut bread factory in the world.

The brand was originally founded in 1954 by Abraham Theunisse in Harderwijk, Netherlands. For decades, it remained a family-owned business, specializing in the production of these unique coconut slices that have become a staple in Dutch households. The manufacturing process takes place at their modern facility in Harderwijk, ensuring the product remains gluten-free and fiber-rich according to long-standing recipes.

In 2018, the company transitioned from being a family-owned enterprise when it was acquired by its management team (Gijs Kakebeeke and René Jansen) with financial backing from the private equity firm Berk Partners. Today, Theha continues to operate from its Dutch headquarters, focusing on expanding the brand internationally and developing healthier, sugar-free variants of the classic treat.
