Morrisons brand products

Morrisons, officially known as Wm Morrison Supermarkets Limited, is one of the largest supermarket chains in the United Kingdom. Founded by William Morrison in 1899, the brand started as a simple egg and butter stall in Rawson Market, Bradford. Over the decades, it evolved from a local market stall into a national retail giant known for its vertically integrated supply chain, often referred to as its 'Market Street' concept where it prepares much of its fresh food in-store.

Unlike many of its competitors, Morrisons owns a significant portion of its own food production chain, including farms, fishing fleets, and manufacturing plants across the UK. This localized manufacturing strategy allows them to maintain strict quality control over their private label products.

In late 2021, the company underwent a major ownership shift when it was acquired by the American private equity firm Clayton, Dubilier & Rice (CD&R). This acquisition marked Morrisons' transition from a publicly traded company on the London Stock Exchange to a private entity under international ownership. Despite the change in parent company, Morrisons continues to operate from its headquarters in Bradford, West Yorkshire, maintaining its identity as a British retail staple.
