eMAG is the largest e-commerce retailer in Romania and a major player across Central and Eastern Europe. Founded in 2001 as a small computer shop in Bucharest, it has evolved into a comprehensive digital marketplace. While the brand is rooted in Romanian entrepreneurship, its growth was significantly accelerated through international investment.

The platform operates primarily out of Romania, where its headquarters and primary logistics infrastructure are located. Over the years, it has expanded its operational footprint to include Bulgaria and Hungary. Today, eMAG is synonymous with the digital economy in the region, offering everything from electronics and household goods to personal care and groceries.

The ownership structure of eMAG is a blend of local vision and global capital. The majority owner is Naspers (through Prosus), a global internet group headquartered in the Netherlands and South Africa, while the remaining shares are held by Romanian entrepreneur Iulian Stanciu, who played a pivotal role in the company's regional dominance.
