Authentic manufacturing remains heavily concentrated in the Tuscany region of Italy, where artisans follow Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) guidelines to ensure quality. However, due to its global popularity, mass-market versions are now produced by international food conglomerates across multiple continents.

Ownership of biscotti brands varies significantly, ranging from small-scale historic family bakeries like Antonio Mattei to large multinational corporations like Barilla (through its Mulino Bianco brand) and various private labels owned by global retailers. The heritage of the product remains deeply rooted in Italian culinary tradition.
