Solgar Vitamins and Supplements

Solgar was founded in 1947 in New Jersey, USA, by Nat Colby, Mike Goldfarb, and Carl Zoll. The brand established its reputation as a pioneer in the nutritional industry by focusing on high-quality, science-based supplements and adopting its signature amber glass bottles to protect ingredients from heat, light, and moisture. For decades, Solgar was known for its 'Gold Standard' of quality, including its own state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Leonia, New Jersey.

Over the years, the brand underwent several ownership changes. In 2005, it was acquired by NBTY (later renamed Nature's Bounty Co.). In 2021, Nestlé Health Science reached an agreement to acquire the majority of Nature’s Bounty Co.’s brands, including Solgar, from the private equity firm KKR.

Today, Solgar operates as a premium brand within the Nestlé Health Science portfolio. While it maintains its heritage and significant production footprint in the United States, its products are distributed in over 60 countries. The ultimate ownership lies with Nestlé, the global food and beverage conglomerate headquartered in Switzerland.
