Barcaffe is one of the most recognizable and significant coffee brands in Southeastern Europe, particularly within the Balkan region. Established in 1970 in Portoroz, Slovenia, it quickly set a high standard for traditional Turkish-style coffee. Over the decades, the brand has expanded its portfolio to include espresso beans, instant coffee, and specialized coffee capsules, maintaining a dominant market share in its home country.
The manufacturing of Barcaffe products takes place across several processing facilities in the region, including significant production sites in Slovenia and Serbia. This localized production strategy allows the brand to maintain freshness and cater specifically to the taste preferences of regional consumers while utilizing high-quality beans sourced from traditional coffee-growing regions globally.
Ownership of Barcaffe has transitioned through major corporate shifts in the Adriatic region. Originally developed by Droga Kolinska, the brand became part of the Atlantic Grupa portfolio in 2010. Atlantic Grupa, a leading Croatian multinational food and distribution company, continues to own and manage the brand, overseeing its distribution and marketing across Europe. The company is headquartered in Zagreb, Croatia, and is considered one of the most successful business entities in the region.
