Polestar 2 electric vehicle

The Polestar 2 is a fully electric five-door fastback, representing the second model from the Swedish automotive brand Polestar. Originally established in 1996 as Flash Engineering (later Polestar Racing) to optimize Volvo cars for competitive racing, Polestar evolved into Volvo's official performance partner. In 2015, Volvo Cars fully acquired the performance division and brand name, and in 2017, it was relaunched as a standalone high-performance electric vehicle manufacturer.

While the Polestar 2 is designed and engineered in Sweden, production is centralized in Luqiao, China, at a facility operated by Geely Holding. This manufacturing strategy leverages the extensive industrial capabilities of its parent group. Ownership of the brand is a joint venture between Volvo Car AB and its parent company, Zhejiang Geely Holding Group. As of 2026, Polestar continues to position itself as a design-led, sustainable luxury brand, maintaining its corporate headquarters and primary research and development operations in Gothenburg, Sweden.
