Interbrew

Interbrew was a prominent Belgian brewing company with origins dating back to 1366, when the Den Horen Brewery was established in Leuven. In 1717, master brewer Sébastien Artois took over the brewery, renaming it Brouwerij Artois. In 1987, Brouwerij Artois merged with Brasserie Piedboeuf, a Walloon-based brewer, to form Interbrew. The company expanded internationally by acquiring Labatt Brewing Company in Canada in 1995, and Beck's Brewery in Germany in 2001. In 2004, Interbrew merged with Brazilian brewer AmBev to create InBev, becoming the world's largest brewer by volume at that time. In 2008, InBev acquired Anheuser-Busch, forming Anheuser-Busch InBev (AB InBev), the current owner of Interbrew's legacy brands.
