Dunville's Irish Whiskey is a historic brand with roots tracing back to 1808 in Belfast, Ireland. Founded by William Napier and John Dunvill, the company initially operated as a wine and spirit merchant. In 1825, John Dunvill acquired his partner's share, leading to the establishment of Dunville & Co. The brand gained prominence with its 'VR' (Victoria Regina) and 'Three Crowns' labels, celebrated for their quality and craftsmanship. However, the original distillery ceased operations in 1936 due to challenges like Prohibition in the U.S. market. In 2013, the Echlinville Distillery, a family-owned farm distillery in County Down, Northern Ireland, revived the Dunville's brand. Echlinville became the first new distillery in Northern Ireland in over 125 years, producing Dunville's Irish Whiskey alongside other premium spirits. The revival aimed to restore Dunville's to its former glory, introducing expressions like Dunville's VR Old Irish Whiskey and Dunville's Three Crowns Irish Whiskey. These releases have been well-received, earning accolades such as Best Irish Single Malt Under 12 Years at the 2015 World Whiskies Awards. The Echlinville Distillery continues to honor the legacy of Dunville's, offering a range of high-quality Irish whiskeys that reflect the brand's rich heritage and commitment to excellence.
