Cinema City is a prominent cinema chain operating multiplex theaters across Central and Eastern Europe, as well as in Israel. Established in 1929 by the Greidinger family in Haifa, Israel, the company began its journey by opening its first cinema in 1931. Over the decades, Cinema City expanded its footprint, becoming the largest cinema operator in Central and Eastern Europe and Israel. In 2014, the UK-based Cineworld Group plc acquired Cinema City International, integrating it into its global operations. This acquisition allowed Cinema City to further enhance its presence in the European market, operating 99 multiplexes with a total of 966 screens across Central and Eastern Europe under the Cinema City banner, and in Israel under the Planet and Rav-Chen banners. The company is renowned for providing state-of-the-art cinematic experiences, including IMAX and 4DX screenings, catering to a diverse audience across the regions it serves.
