The Mammut brand, symbolized by its iconic mammoth logo, is a premier name in the outdoor and mountaineering equipment industry. Founded in 1862 by Kaspar Tanner in Dintikon, Switzerland, the company began as a humble family ropery. Over the decades, it evolved from a specialist rope manufacturer into a global leader in high-performance alpine gear, including apparel, footwear, and backpacks. In 2021, the brand transitioned to new ownership when it was acquired by Telemos Capital from the Swiss conglomerate Conzzeta (now Bystronic AG).

While the brand maintains its design and engineering headquarters in Seon, Switzerland, its manufacturing is highly globalized. High-tech components and specialized mountain ropes were historically made in Switzerland, but contemporary products like backpacks are primarily manufactured in Asia, with major facilities located in Vietnam, China, and the Philippines. The brand is committed to sustainability and ethical production, being an early member of the Fair Wear Foundation and utilizing bluesign® approved materials to minimize its environmental footprint while maintaining the extreme durability required for mountain sports.
