Carr's Table Water Original crackers

Carr's is a historic British brand established in 1831 by Jonathan Dodgson Carr in Carlisle, England. The brand is best known for its iconic 'Table Water' crackers, which were an evolution of the traditional ship biscuits used by sailors, designed to stay crisp and fresh in tins.

Today, the biscuit and cracker brand is owned by pladis Global, a subsidiary of the Turkish conglomerate Yıldız Holding. While the original Carr's business eventually split into different entities (including flour milling and agriculture), the consumer cracker brand remains tied to its roots in Carlisle. Most Carr's products continue to be manufactured at the historic McVitie's factory in Carlisle, which is recognized as one of the oldest biscuit factories in the world still in operation.

In North America, particularly in the United States and Canada, the brand has historically been marketed and distributed through partnerships with major companies like Kellogg's (now Kellanova), though the ultimate global ownership and production remain centered in the United Kingdom under the pladis umbrella.
