Scan Leverpastej is a classic Swedish liver pate, a staple in Swedish households for decades. It is primarily produced using Swedish pork liver and meat, adhering to the brand's long-standing commitment to local sourcing and traditional recipes.
The brand Scan was originally established by Swedish farmer cooperatives (under the name Swedish Meats) and has been a central figure in the Swedish meat industry since the early 20th century. In 2007, the brand was acquired by the Finnish food group HKScan. However, in a significant shift aimed at returning the brand to Swedish ownership, HKScan (now renamed HKFoods) sold its Swedish operations to the Swedish agricultural cooperative Lantmännen in early 2024.
As of 2026, the brand is operated by Scan Sverige, a subsidiary of Lantmännen. Production remains centered in Sweden, specifically in Skara, where the pate is traditionally oven-baked to achieve its signature texture and flavor profile.
