Zaanse Mayonnaise

Zaanse Mayonnaise is a legendary Dutch condiment that has been a staple in households across the Netherlands since the mid-20th century. The story began in 1929 when the founder, known as 'Grandpa' Van Wijngaarden, started a small oil business in the Zaan region. It wasn't until 1959 that the company introduced its iconic mayonnaise, characterized by an exceptionally high oil content of 80% and its distinctive tube packaging.

Today, the product is still manufactured in the Zaan region, specifically in Wormerveer, at a modern facility that stays true to the original family recipe. The manufacturing process emphasizes natural ingredients without the use of artificial thickeners or stabilizers, maintaining the rich and creamy texture that has made the brand famous.

Ownership of the brand remains exceptionally stable, as it is still a private, fourth-generation Dutch family business. Van Wijngaarden B.V. continues to own and operate the brand independently. While they have partnered with NGM International to handle global distribution and export logistics outside of the Benelux region, the ultimate control and heritage of the brand remain firmly rooted in the Van Wijngaarden family.
