Buffalo Trace is a flagship Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey produced by the historic Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort, Kentucky. The distillery's roots date back to 1775, though the modern brand 'Buffalo Trace' was launched in 1999 to honor the ancient buffalo crossing on the banks of the Kentucky River.

The product is distilled, aged, and bottled at the Frankfort site using a traditional 'Mash Bill #1' consisting of corn, rye, and malted barley. Since 1992, the distillery has been owned and operated by the Sazerac Company, a private American spirits giant. Under Sazerac's ownership, the distillery has undergone significant multi-billion dollar expansions to keep up with global demand, solidifying its place as one of the most awarded distilleries in the world.
