Cailler is one of the oldest and most famous chocolate brands in Switzerland, founded by François-Louis Cailler in Vevey in 1819. The brand holds a historic place in Swiss confectionery history, being credited with introducing the first solid chocolate tablet and later combining milk with chocolate to create milk chocolate. Today, Cailler is manufactured exclusively at the Broc factory in Switzerland, using local Alpine milk and Swiss sugar.
In 1929, Cailler merged with Peter, Cailler, Kohler, Swiss Chocolate Manufacturers SA, which subsequently merged with Nestlé in the same year. Nestlé, the ultimate owner of the brand, is a massive multinational food and beverage conglomerate headquartered in Vevey, Switzerland. While there are other confectioners worldwide sharing similar names, the Cailler brand sold in Switzerland and globally remains deeply tied to its Swiss heritage under the Nestlé umbrella.
