Hisense originated in Qingdao, China, evolving from the Qingdao No. 2 Radio Factory founded in 1969 into one of the world's largest consumer electronics and major appliance groups. The Hisense brand is widely distributed across the European market, including Swedish electronics and home appliance retailers such as Elgiganten.

Hisense Group, headquartered in Qingdao, Shandong, China, remains the ultimate owner of the brand. In Europe, Hisense manages manufacturing and distribution through regional entities such as Gorenje d.o.o. in Slovenia (acquired by Hisense in 2018) and Hisense Gorenje Germany GmbH, with local Nordic operations managed via Hisense Nordic.
