KGM Automotive Vehicles

KGM (formerly known worldwide as SsangYong Motor) is South Korea's oldest automotive brand specializing in SUVs, crossovers, and commercial utility vehicles. Founded originally in 1954 as Ha Dong-hwan Motor Workshop, the company built a strong reputation over decades for producing rugged four-wheel-drive vehicles, diesel engines, and utility trucks.

Following a series of ownership shifts involving Daewoo, SAIC, and Mahindra & Mahindra, the automaker entered court receivership and was acquired in 2022 by the South Korean conglomerate KG Group. In 2023, the brand was officially renamed KG Mobility (KGM) to signal a strategic pivot toward electrification and contemporary mobility solutions.

Today, primary vehicle assembly and engineering operations remain concentrated at KGM's main manufacturing facilities in Pyeongtaek, South Korea. While KGM vehicles have widespread export markets throughout Europe, Latin America, and the Asia-Pacific region, automotive imports to the United States have been historically limited or non-existent under the modern passenger car network.
